Meet Sergio Deiana
Qualified carpenter. Registered builder. The person who will personally build your home.
I Started Swinging a Hammer. I'm Still On-Site Today.
Building isn't just my trade. It's what I genuinely love doing.
I started as a young carpenter over 25 years ago. Back then I was learning from the tradespeople around me — absorbing how buildings go together, what makes them strong, what makes them beautiful, and what makes them last. That foundation has stayed with me through every single job since.
Twenty-five years later, I'm still on-site. Still solving problems, still obsessing over the details, and still getting a kick out of seeing a family walk into a home that's been completely transformed.
I take sticks, blocks, and building materials and turn them into something people are proud to call home. Whether it's a second storey addition to a weatherboard cottage or a complete renovation of a mid-century brick home, the goal is always the same: create something special that's built to last.
I've trained dozens of apprentices over the years. I've watched them grow into builders of their own. That's part of the legacy I care about — not just the homes we leave behind, but the tradespeople we bring through.
DeianaBuild is a family-run business. That means the standards aren't set by shareholders or a boardroom. They're set by me. And I put my name on every job.

Old Homes Are My Speciality
I only take work I can personally deliver
DeianaBuild doesn't grow beyond what I can personally supervise. I'd rather do fewer projects and do them properly than spread myself thin across jobs I can't give proper attention to.
Existing homes require existing knowledge
Building on a blank slab is one thing. Working with a 1930s cottage or a 1960s brick veneer is a different discipline entirely. Understanding how these homes were built — and how to work with them, not against them — is something you only develop over years on the tools.
Character matters
I've seen too many heritage homes gutted of the things that made them special. My approach is to understand what's worth preserving and what genuinely needs to go — to create a result that feels both modern and honest to the home's origins.
Apprenticeships matter to me personally
Good building is a craft. I've trained dozens of apprentices over the years and I take that responsibility seriously. The trade is only as good as the people we bring through.
In Their Own Words

We have recommended him to other people.”Michael & Marlene · Templestowe · Double Storey Addition

“Sergio seamlessly integrated a modern extension onto our 1930s art deco brick house. He completed the job within budget, on time and in quality. Would highly recommend.”Lucas · Coburg · Heritage Extension
